What are some good high school tips?

This is my first year going to Catholic school and i am REALLY nervous, i am going into 9th grade, and only one person that i dont really know that well is going. this may be a silly question but in general what are some good high school tips(fashion.social.etc)? i am really shy and kind of feel like i am on my own. =/
also do alot of ppl bring totes or backpacks, because at my old school they really didnt like us bringing totes with us =]

Organization of information such as what things are due, notes and projects.
Organization of time or time-management – when are things due; learning to be proactive with assignments or projects.
Listening skills, paying attention in class and note taking abilities.
Using memory and recall.
Being able to set up a study place independently.
