Learning Centers for 8th Graders English & Reading?

I am in need to create learning centers for 8th graders. Any websites, ideas, suggestions would be appreciated.

i teach 6th grade and the two most popular reading centers in my classroom are “mystery words” and the listening center.

the listening center is popular because it doesn’t matter the reading level, you can make it through a book from cover to cover without feeling like you can’t read well enough to finish it. it is the most popular center. some students even ask to stay in at lunch.

the 2nd most popular is what i call “mystery words”…i took everyday words that are on the intermediate level and used cut up index cards and wrote each letter of a particular word on a card. i placed one set of letters in an envelope, and my kids make smaller words with them, but the ultimate goal is to figure out the large, mystery word.
